Homestead Exemption

HomeCalculateDocumentsFAQ'SOutreach

Dear Residents:

I am pleased to announce a new and expanded Homestead Exemption program effective July 1, 2007. This new program will provide a tax credit on the first $25,000 of Market Value of your home. In Geauga that credit will average approximately $380.00 in Real Estate Tax savings per year. The calculator tab will give you an estimate, based upon this year's tax rates, of what that credit would be in the future. To qualify for the new expanded Homestead Credit you must be 65 years of age by December 31, 2010 or older or permanently disabled, please note that there is no longer an income requirement for this tax credit.

I urge you to take advantage of this new program. To apply for the Homestead Exemption please fill out the application and mail it to our office at 231 Main St., Suite 1A, Chardon, Ohio 44024 no later than June 1, 2010.

If you have any questions please view the FAQ'S tab or email us at taxrelief@co.geauga.oh.us or you can contact us at our toll free numbers (440) 285-2222, 564-7131, or 834-1856, ext. 1617, or direct dial (440)-279-1617 between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

We are here to serve you.
Sincerely,
Frank J. Gliha
