Homestead Exemption

HomeCalculateDocumentsFAQ'SOutreach

Dear Residents:

The Homestead Exemption provides a tax credit on the first $25,000 of Market Value of your home. In Geauga County, that credit will average approximately $380.00 in Real Estate Tax savings per year. The calculator tab will provide you an estimate, based upon this year's tax rates, of what that credit would be in the future. To qualify for the Homestead Credit you must be 65 years of age by December 31, 2010 or older or permanently disabled. Please note that there is no income requirement for this tax credit.

I urge you to take advantage of this program. To apply for the Homestead Exemption please fill out the application and mail it to our office at 231 Main St., Suite 1A, Chardon, Ohio 44024 no later than June 7, 2010.
