Estate Tax
The County Auditor acts as an agent for the Ohio Tax Commissioner and is responsible for processing the estate tax returns of descedents who resided in Geauga County.
The monies collected from the estate tax are distributed by law according to the table below. The State of Ohio receives the percentage of the tax as listed in the 'State' column and the taxing district (Township or Village in which the decedent had resided and/or owned property) receives the percentage of the tax listed in the 'Township or Village' column.
